Scan one feature at a time
Do not try to perceive the whole pattern at once. Compare position, count, orientation, shading, size and movement separately. Then test whether one rule or two alternating rules explain every frame.

- Track clockwise or mirrored movement.
- Check addition, subtraction and overlap.
- Test odd and even positions separately.
Demand consistency
A candidate rule must fit the full sequence, not only the latest transition. Use the answer choices as hypotheses: reject any option that breaks a stable count, orientation or combination rule.
- Start with the simplest invariant.
- Use elimination when the complete rule is not obvious.
- Flag and return instead of spending several minutes.
Build speed after recognition
With an average of one minute per question, fluency comes from recognising rule families. First solve untimed and name the rule; later shorten the scan while maintaining evidence for the choice.
